Built in 1880 in the suburb of St James and situated on the False Bay coast between Muizenberg and Kalk Bay, this suburb derives its name from the early church . Most of the surrounding suburb was built between 1910 and 1950 after the railway line was built connecting Cape Town to False Bay.
Services offered by the church, which include marriages, baptisms, funerals and confirmation classes can be booked through the parish priest, Fr Andrew Cox. If you require any information email us and we will do what we can to help.

All Masses in the parish are suspended due to the parish priest being placed under quarantine as a precautionary measure due to exposure to a Covid positive technician on Friday 11th December. We hope to resume Masses on Tuesday 22nd December and look forward to a happy and blessed Christmas!
To reserve seats for services at St. James Catholic Church click here. We are using this system because of the limitation on numbers at Mass. We don't want people to arrive to find that the church is full and that they end up being disappointed and have to turn back. It is the best we can do under the circumstances and we will also be limiting Mass to 40 people.
